6 tips to close your project!
Do you have a project you can't quite close, even though all the beta is in place? Here's a good strategy to get your project closed. A project is a problem that is difficult for you, but not impossible. So you work and practice on every move to reach the goal.
1. Take a short break
To have your maximum strength available, you should take a short break from climbing 1-3 days before you want to close your project. It is important to be well recovered on the day.
2. Rehearse your beta and make a final decision
Visualize the beta several times before you go on the wall. Decide on all movements with both hands and feet before you start climbing. This way, all decisions are made in advance and there's no doubt about what's going to happen once you're on the wall. Your time on the wall is precious and you shouldn't spend your time on the wall deciding what's going to happen. Get it in advance, be aware and prepared for every movement.
3. Hurry slowly
Once you've climbed your project and mastered all the beta, you need to execute. This means moving in a rehearsed and efficient way, but without rushing. If you rush, you make mistakes and climb clumsily. Moving efficiently minimizes wasted time and therefore maximizes the use of your energy. Learn the difference between being efficient and rushing.
4. Breathe
It's important to have energy throughout the problem. Remember to breathe consciously and deeply before you go on the wall. Remember to breathe as you climb - post specific times when you take a few quick, deep breaths.
5. Quality over quantity
When it comes to closing your project, it's all about giving your best shot and not giving a lot of shots and waiting for luck. Make sure you recover well before your attempts. Wait 5-10 minutes between each shot. Set a timer and take off your shoes while you wait.
6. Coffee helps!
Coffee gives good energy and tastes good :) Drink a coffee 15 minutes before your session.
Give it a shot next time you're in Boulders to close your project!
