Training exercises (old school vs new school)
Climbing has many fun facets and has evolved a lot.
For example. Two main styles of climbing, New School and Old School. New School is typically more dynamic and challenges balance and coordination. Old School is typically more about strength and small holds.
If you want to get better at New School climbing, try the following exercise to train your precision, dynamics and coordination.
The exercise is to eliminate one of your limbs when climbing. Choose a problem that is a few degrees easier than the one you usually climb.
Start with one arm first, then the opposite arm. You'll soon find that it requires some quick foot changes and precise hand movements to avoid falling off.
You quickly realize that it's almost impossible to eliminate an arm on overhang and difficult to eliminate legs on slab.
Find some easy problems and practice, we're sure you'll become a New School climbing champion.
See you later!
